The Emancipation of Kinky Haired Girls is a multi-disciplinary project consisting of a coffee table book of digital still photographs, by photographer Chaz Bowie, a DVD of these stills, live action digital video, and original chamber music all woven together to celebrate the strength and beauty of the black female nude.

The subjects were carefully selected and all possess strength, character, presence and an artistic temperament that make them beautiful in an organic way. They are not girls, they are women in their 30's, 40's and 50's who know themselves and their world and are not afraid to express themselves.

These women represent a cross-section of a specific group who are interviewed about their lives and experiences where they strip down metaphorically to uncover what makes them extraordinary. Patrick conducts the interviews and then comments on the subjects musically.
